You may have heard about what has happened in Paris and I live about 13 minutes from the scene. But no need to worry, I am in Nice in my hotel at the moment. Now, I must shed some light on the situation. Charlie Hebdo is a satirical magazine that makes fun of almost everything. It is a very popular magazine in France for its humerus way of portraying people, events, etc.

One of the cartoons in the magazine was said to be making fun of the Islamic religion. Pictures were depicting Muhammad, which is against the religion since no one really knows what he looks like. 2 gunmen stormed the building killing 12 out of the 24 people working at Charlie Hebdo. France was outraged. There were large protests with 4 million people in the streets of Paris. In Niger, there were protests with threatening actions like burning of a french flag for disrespecting their religion. The two suspects in the deadly attack on Charlie Hebdo died after police surrounded a print shop where they were holed up in a town outside Paris. One more suspect is thought to be in Syria, but we are not sure. She was supposedly in contact with the owner of the print shop and knew of the attack before it happened. No need to worry, I am in Nice and am far away from where the attack happened. Hope all is well at home and I look forward to talking with you soon.
Love,
Ruby
